FAQs
Here are the answers to some common questions. If you have a question that isn't answered here or elsewhere on our website then please contact us through our contact page or find us on social media.
Can I participate if I don't have a front garden?
We aim to be as inclusive as possible so there are no strict criteria on what sort or size of space you can plant up. All we ask is that it is safely visible from the street so that it can be judged and appreciated by all. Perhaps a window planter, or the base of a tree on your street could be used?
If you want to use a tree pit outside your home then please let our friends at Sharing Seeds know. They can let the council know which trees are being managed so they skip them for weed spraying.
What if I don't have any seeds to plant?
There are a few ways you can go about finding the best seeds to plant and getting hold of them.
Join our Facebook group and discuss with others in the area what seeds they have planted and might have a few spares of going spare. Sharing Seeds, another TTT project, will be hosting a seed swap, and if you adopt a street tree may be able to help with some seeds to get you started.
Is the competition only open to people in Tooting?
We'd love for anyone and everyone to sign up and plant up a pollinator friendly space.
So there are no geographical limits to signing up, joining our Facebook group and sharing your progress photos.
However, for the competition itself, entries will be limited (for practical reasons) to SW17 and surrounding postcodes. Beyond this area, entries will be accepted at the judges discretion.
