Rules

While the competition is intended to be fun and light hearted, please do read the rules before signing up.

If you have any questions then take a look at our FAQs, or contact us if that didn't help.

Rules:

  • The competition will start on 1st March 2021 and will end on the 26th of September after 30 weeks.
  • The results will be announced shortly before the final date.
  • All entries must be safely visible from the street to help people view your entry (whatever the latest Covid restrictions may be) and to allow the local community to enjoy the entries.

Best Individual Front Garden/Growing Space For Pollinators

Examples of entries could be front gardens, balconies, window sills, hanging baskets or any area on the street you can plant in legally. You entry does not have to be limited to one of the ideas above, in fact we encourage you to plant as much as possible.

Best Street for Pollinators

Why not enter into our street competition. Its a great way to work together as a community - but please remember to follow the social distancing guidelines when working on a shared space.
If you are planning to enter the street competition you can indicate this on the sign up form. However any street with more than one entry, or where we spot lots of pollinator friendly spots being created, will be automatically entered. If you are joining your street's efforts but are not entering your own private space then you can sign up for a street entry only so that we have your details.

Judging

Judging will be based on several criteria:
  • Choice of pollinator-friendly plants
  • Creative use of space
  • Seasonal range of flower plants
We expect the main part of the judging to be in June/July. However, we would encourage you to to think about providing flowers from spring until autumn and even winter.

The winning pollinator paradise will be awarded a special commemorative plaque to be awarded at an event later in the year.

To be included in the judging please sign-up by mid-summers day, 21st June 2021.

Its a local thing - but how local is local?

While we would love to allow entries from anywhere, it isn't practical for judging. Everyone is encouraged to take part (and still sign up) wherever you live, but please be aware that only entries that are close enough for our judges to visit will be officially judged for the competition.
Entries from Tooting, Balham and Furzedown, Colliers Wood and Figgs Marsh will be included in the judging. Anywhere further than this will be accepted at the organisers' discretion.
